How can I scan materials that are on reserve so that I can read them later?
Answer
The fastest way to get a scan of a document or book chapter is probably your phone. There are many scanning apps available for both iOS and Android. (Shown here is Prizmo for iOS.) Many of these perform optical character recognition (OCR), so you can paste the text into other applications, manipulate the text, or even use software to have it read out loud.
The library offers two printer/scanners located to the right of the circulation desk, and one on the third floor, lake side. Once you scan your Ithaca ID and enter your Netpass credentials, you can scan to email or OneDrive. OneDrive is recommended due to file size limitations.
There is also an overhead scanner on the towers side of the third floor. This one is networked, so you can email the files to yourself when you’re done. This is a good choice for scanning large-format items (e.g., music scores) or for cases where you need high resolution.
