Q. Please build outlets on all desks on the first and second floor and enforce a quiet discussion rule because the 1st floor always gets way too loud.

Answer

The open architecture of the library does little to block sound, so the second and third floors can get quite noisy. The fourth and fifth floors are designated quiet study areas.  Feel free to ask for a set of earplugs at the Research Help Desk.

As we continue to experience increased demand for our circulating laptops, we have removed some of the desktop machines on the second and third floors, freeing up additional outlets at the pillars and some tables.  We will continue to replace desktops with laptops in order to support increased technology use on the more quiet floors of the library.  Please note that power strips are available at the circulation desk.
